Ski in Sky Privacy Policy

中文

Effective date: October 20, 2026 Last updated: October 20, 2026

Ski in Sky (“the app”) is developed and operated by an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, who handles it, and the rights you have. If the Chinese and English versions differ, the Chinese version prevails.

In short: the app needs no account, shows no ads, does no tracking and contains no analytics tools. We do not collect, store or sell any of your personal information. Your preferences stay on your own device.

1. Scope

This policy covers the Ski in Sky iOS app and its support web pages. Third-party websites and apps you open from it (resort websites, ticketing sites, the Phone app, map providers) are governed by their own privacy policies.

2. What we do not collect

The app does not:

3. Information stored on your device

To remember your settings, the app stores the following locally on your device (in iOS UserDefaults):

Item Purpose
Default departure point (e.g. Tokyo Station) Calculating travel times to resorts
Pinned resorts (up to 3) Showing them first on the home screen
Currently selected resort Centering the map on it
Run colour scheme (North America / Europe, etc.) Showing run difficulty in colours you’re used to

This information stays only on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. It may be included in your iCloud or computer backups, depending on Apple’s backup service and your settings. Deleting the app removes all of it, and you can change these settings in the app at any time.

Resort information, timetables, prices and trail maps are bundled with the app, so viewing them makes no network requests.

4. Third-party services

4.1 Mapbox (maps)

The Map tab, the Naeba 3D map and the small maps on resort pages use maps and the Mapbox Maps SDK from Mapbox, Inc. (USA). When you open a map, your device connects directly to Mapbox servers to download map tiles, styles and fonts. As with any internet request, Mapbox receives your IP address; technical details such as device model, OS, app and SDK version; the map area you are viewing (the requested tiles); and the app’s public access token.

The Mapbox Maps SDK also sends anonymous usage statistics (such as map loads and SDK performance) to Mapbox by default to improve its service. Because the app never requests location permission, Mapbox cannot obtain your GPS location through it.

To turn off Mapbox telemetry: tap the ⓘ icon in the bottom-right corner of any Mapbox map and opt out of telemetry. Mapbox’s handling of this information is governed by its privacy policy: https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy.

4.2 OpenStreetMap (map data)

Some run, lift and place data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License (ODbL). This data is bundled with the app; using it sends nothing to OpenStreetMap.

Links to resort, ticketing and transport websites open in Safari or the relevant app, and phone numbers open in the Phone app. What happens next is governed by those websites, apps or carriers. The app adds none of your information to these links.

4.4 Apple

Downloads and updates through the App Store are handled by Apple under its privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. If you have chosen “Share With App Developers” under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymised crash reports and usage statistics with us, which we use only to fix problems and improve the app. You can turn this off at any time in those settings.

5. How we use information

We collect no personal information, so we use none. Preferences stored on your device are used only by the app on that device. If you email us, we use what you send only to answer you — never for marketing, and never shared with anyone else.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We hold no personal information, so we share, transfer or disclose none. The third parties in section 4 process, under their own policies, the technical information your device sends them directly when you use their services.

7. International transfers

Mapbox servers may be located in the United States or elsewhere. When you use maps, your device communicates with them directly, so the technical information in section 4.1 may be transferred outside your country or region and protected by Mapbox under its privacy policy and applicable law.

8. Retention

9. Security

All communication between the app and Mapbox uses HTTPS. Local preferences are kept in the app’s iOS sandbox, which other apps cannot read. Because we collect and store no personal information, there is no data on our side to breach.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, the CCPA/CPRA in California, China’s Personal Information Protection Law or Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information), you may have rights to access, correct and delete personal information, withdraw consent, restrict or object to processing, and data portability.

Because we hold no personal information:

If you have questions about exercising your rights, contact us (section 13); we will reply within 15 business days. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. Children’s privacy

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 or under the minimum age in your region. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Changes to this policy

When the app’s features or data handling change, we will update this policy and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes (for example, starting to collect new information), we will give prominent notice in the app and ask for your consent where required.
